Step 1: Prepare the Cake
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease and line two 8-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat until smooth.
Slowly mix in hot coffee. The batter will be thin — this is normal.
Divide batter evenly between pans.
Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let cakes cool completely before assembling.
Step 2: Make the Strawberry Filling
In a small saucepan, combine strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice.
Cook over medium heat for 5–7 minutes until slightly thickened.
Let cool completely before using.
Step 3: Prepare the Chocolate Buttercream
Beat softened butter until creamy (about 2 minutes).
Add powdered sugar and cocoa powder gradually.
Mix in vanilla, salt, and heavy cream.
Beat until fluffy and smooth (3–4 minutes).
🎂 Assemble the Cake
Place one cake layer on a serving plate.
Spread a thin layer of chocolate buttercream.
Add strawberry filling evenly on top.
Place the second cake layer on top.
Frost the entire cake with remaining buttercream.
Decorate with fresh strawberries and chocolate shavings if desired.
