Ingredients
  

  • 6 cups peeled and sliced apples Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work great
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • For the Crisp Topping:
  • 3/4 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter cold and cut into cubes

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch baking dish or oven-safe skillet.
  2. Make the Apple Filling:
  3. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, and lemon juice. Mix until apples are evenly coated. Transfer the mixture into your prepared baking dish.
  4. Prepare the Crisp Topping:
  5. In a separate bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add in the cold butter cubes and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  6. Assemble:
  7. Evenly spread the crisp topping over the apples, covering them completely.
  8. Bake:
  9. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbling underneath.
  10. Cool and Serve:
